CABARRUS COUNTY
*
REGULAR MEETING
pTxarcAa
M ARCH 1
fiiffJfl /
1 P .M.
AGENDA CATEGORY:
Consent Agenda
SUBJECT:
Planning & Development - Request to Fund an Unfunded Position and
Related Budget Amendment
BRIEF SUMMARY:
Staff is requesting to fund an unfunded Code Enforcement Officer for
Construction Standards. Recent growth in the number of inspections has
created a situation where inspectors are performing more than the
recommended number of inspections per day by the Department of
Insurance standards. Additionally, inspections are rolling over to the next
day due to lack of available staffing. During a tracking period, 30- 50
inspections per day are being rolled over to the next day. One of the goals
of Construction Standards is response times within 48 hours of an
inspection request. Staff has collected 87% of the projected revenue for
the year as of February 14, 2013. The Finance Budget staff provided an
analysis of the inspection workloads. This information is attached as well
for your review.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Motion to approve funding for the unfunded position and adopt the
associated budget amendment.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
SUBMITTED BY:
Kelly Sifford, AICP
Planning and Development Director
F -3 Page 111
