CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 19, 2013 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Planning & Development - Soil & Water Conservation District - Option to <br />Purchase Conservation Easement Along Back Creek <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District ( CSWCD) and <br />Mogensen Mitigation Inc. (MMI) have an agreement whereby CSWCD will <br />identify potential sites for stream restoration and wetland mitigation <br />projects, provide technical assistance and hold conservation easements <br />associated with completed projects. On May 20th, the Board of <br />Commissioners approved the agreement for a restoration project on Back <br />Creek, following that approval, MMI prepared an option to purchase a <br />conservation easement as the next step in this restoration project. This <br />agreement went before the Board of Education on June 10, 2013. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the option to purchase the conservation easement <br />along Back Creek and to adopt the Resolution Approving Conveyance of <br />Conservation Easement; Authorizing the Execution and Delivery of <br />Related Documents in Connection Therewith; and Providing for Certain <br />Other Related Matters. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Dennis Testerman, Senior Resource Conservation Specialist <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: <br />G -9 Page 197 <br />
