Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance <br />Chapter 2 -Rules of Construction and Definitions <br />CURTAIN WALL- An exterior wall having no structural function made from brick. <br />DAIRY PROCESSING - Establishments primarily engaged in processing milk and milk based <br />products for safe consumption by the general public. <br />DE NOVO HEARING - A new hearing, to hear anew. <br />DENSITY - The total number of dwelling units per acre. <br />DETAIL SERVICE - An establishment that provides washing and cleaning of passenger or <br />recreational vehicles, inside and out, by hand, by use of automated equipment or by self - <br />service facilities. <br />DEVELOPMENT - The division of a parcel of land into two or more parcels; the construction, <br />reconstruction, conversion, structural alteration, relocation or enlargement of any structure; <br />any mining, drilling, excavation, clearing of roadways or building sites, landfill or land <br />disturbance and any use or extension of the use of land. <br />DEVELOPMENT ORDER - Any action granting, granting with conditions or denying an <br />application for a development permit. <br />DRIVE -IN THEATER - A motion - picture theater designed to accommodate patrons in their <br />automobiles. <br />TRF_F"7 <br />DRUG STORE, PHARMACY - Any place where prescription drugs are dispensed or <br />compounded. <br />DRY CLEANING, LAUNDRY PLANT - A business that primarily involves the on -site cleaning, <br />treatment, or chemical processing of goods or materials, or the storage of chemicals, used <br />in off -site cleaning, treatment, or processing. <br />DRY CLEANING PICK -UP STATION - A place where articles to be dry cleaned are dropped off <br />and picked up but are not processed on site. <br />DUMPSTER - A large steel waste receptacle designed to be emptied into garbage <br />trucks. <br />DUPLEX - A building containing two individual commercial units located on a parcel <br />that is at least 150% of the minimum lot size for the zoning district. <br />DWELLING UNIT - A building or portion of a building which is arranged, occupied or intended to <br />be occupied as living quarters for a family. Facilities for food preparation, sleeping and <br />sanitation are included.
