Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance <br />Chapter 2 -Rules of Construction and Definitions <br />4. Is more than five years old and appears to have no resale value except as a source of <br />parts or scrap. <br />KENNEL, COMMERCIAL - A use or structure intended and used for the breeding or storage of <br />animals for sale or for the training or overnight boarding of animals for persons other than the <br />owner of the lot. <br />KENNEL, PRIVATE - Considered to exist when five or more dogs over six (6) months of age are <br />kept as pets and /or for hunting, dog shows, exhibitions, or field and obedience trials. <br />LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY - Any use of the land by any person that results in a change in <br />the natural cover or topography and that may cause or contribute to sedimentation. <br />LANDFILL, DEMOLITION - A landfill that is limited to receiving stumps, limbs, leaves, concrete, <br />brick, wood, uncontaminated earth or other solid waste meeting the standards of the State of <br />North Carolina. A clean fill operation which is conducted to improve or recontour land using <br />only soil is not construed to be such a landfill. Demolition landfills are presumed to be an <br />adjunct to an ongoing construction process and, as such, are to be reclaimed at the <br />termination of construction. <br />LANDFILL, SANITARY - Any disposal facility or part of Adisposal facility where waste is placed <br />in or on land, whether publicly or privately owned, and ho W g a permit from the State of <br />North Carolina. <br />LANDLOCKED PARCEL - A parcel of land without access of record. <br />LANDOWNER - Any owner of a legal or equitable interest in real property, including the <br />heirs, devisees, successors, assigns, and personal representative of such owner. <br />LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT - A person who holds a current certificate entitling him or her to <br />practice "landscape architecture" and to use the title "landscape architect" in North Carolina. <br />LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR - Within the meaning of this Ordinance, any person, partnership, <br />association or corporation which holds a certificate issued by the North Carolina Landscape <br />Contractors' Registration Board. <br />LAUNDROMAT - A commercial establishment where clothes can be washed and dried using <br />coin - operated machines. <br />LIVESTOCK - Shall include, but not be limited to, equine animals, bovine animals, sheep, <br />goats, llamas, alpacas, poultry, fowl and swine. These types of animals are typically housed <br />on a farm. Poultry Exception: See Chapter 7, Agriculture - Female Chickens (Limited Number) <br />LIVESTOCK SALES - Any business where the primary purpose is to buy livestock for the <br />purpose of resale or auction. <br />LOADING AND UNLOADING SPACE - A permanently maintained space for the purpose of <br />loading and unloading goods or receiving inventory. <br />LOCKSMITH - A person who makes or repairs locks and keys. <br />Chapter 2 Page 13 of 29 <br />Revised 2013 <br />Attachment number 2 <br />G -1 Page 300 <br />
