Matching Incentive Grant Program 2012 -3013 <br />The Matching Incentive Grant program provides non - profit community groups assistance in providing recrea- <br />tion facilities in their local communities. Upon budget approval Cabarrus County will provide up to 50% of the <br />actual project cost. Projects must be located on Cabarrus County publicly owned property. When completed the <br />projects must remain open to the public. Total budget approved and matched was $50,000. <br />Cabarrus County Parks funded the following grants in 2012 -2013: <br />Shady Brook Elementary PTO - $5,000 - Fully irrigated playing field <br />Hartsell Athletic Association - $14,094 - Purchased a utility vehicle and tractor <br />Weddington Hills PTO - $2,000 - Enhanced nature trail and purchased a utility golf cart <br />Patriots Elementary PTA - $3,895 - Installed a nine hole disc golf course with safety fencing <br />C.E. Boger Elementary PTO - $13,000 - Constructed an LED community communications sign <br />Harrisburg Youth Association - $12,011 - Constructed a concession/announcement stand at Harrisburg Park <br />Senior Games Continues to Grow <br />Senior Games is a year -round health promotion and wellness program for adults 55 years of age and older. The <br />program is designed to keep the body, mind and spirit fit, while enjoying the company of friends, family, spectators <br />and volunteers. This year the Cabarrus County Senior Games increased participation by 57% with 72 first time <br />participants. Winners from local events will go on to Raleigh in September to compete on the State level. <br />Attachment number 1 <br />1 -1 Page 465 <br />
