Edenton Street <br />Raleigh, NC 27601 <br />Dear Ms, Heath: <br />At the regular meeting of our board on December 4, we voted unanimously <br />by consent to endorse an Agriculture Development and Farmland <br />BOA RD OF 8VPL '1?1 R.S' Preservation Trust Fund application resubmittal to secure partial funding to <br />purchase permanent agricultural conservation easement an a tract that <br />Jeff GOOrth makes up one sixth of the Barrier Brothers farm outside Mt. Pleasant. The <br />Chairmalt vote was made by consent via the Staff Report, which documents that staff is <br />following the board's direction on this action. This tract, awned by Mike <br />Vick; Porter Barrier, is located just over a quarter of a mile from the parcel owned by his <br />Vice - Chairman brother, Dan, which was approved for funding last year. <br />Ned llrurlsarr We have been working collaboratively with the Land Trust for Central North <br />Secretary Treasurer Carolina on farmland protection on the Barrier Brothers farm since 2008. <br />Lours,Yrrtlre =r We anticipate that the LTCNC will be a contingent grantee on this easement <br />Melliber In the event that the enclosed application is successful, We plan to seek <br />Farm and Ranchland Protection Program matching funds for this easement. <br />Robe➢rl Brown <br />Member Land tenure is a top priority for our board, and we are systematically trying <br />to protect private working lands with easements, In the eastern portion of <br />7u ttrl Porter to <br />county, there is a window of opportunity to provide long -term <br />Assoc lltcnthcr protection to land that is currently zoned "Agriculture Open."
