The required local match will be <br />included in the Transportation Department's FY 2015 budgetary <br />request. <br />Page <br />Chairman Poole advised she is the Board liaison to the Transportation <br />Advisory Board and reviewed a handout detailing the names of the grants, what <br />each grant covers, the grant amounts, the county match and whether the <br />service is mandated. <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion Mr. Bass and Bob Bushey, <br />Transportation Coordinator, responded to a variety of questions from the <br />Board. <br />Chairman Poole advised the Board first review the Transportation items <br />on the Agenda, followed by general discussion and scheduling of the special <br />meting needed to conduct the public hearings prior to the regular meting on <br />November 18 <br />Hunan Services - Transportaticn DepartTent - 5310 Elderly and Disabled Grant <br />FUndi ng - Public Hearing 6:30 P.M. <br />Bob Bushey, Transportation Coordinator, presented the following <br />information relating to the 5310 Elderly and Disabled Grant Funding: <br />Cabarrus County Transportation plans to apply for federal <br />transportation funding through the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation (NCDOT), Public Transportation Division, for <br />funding provided by the 5310 Elderly and Disabled Transportation <br />Grant totaling $903,161.00 for two years. Funding for this <br />program is designed to meet the special needs of elderly <br />individuals and individuals with disabilities. If awarded, a <br />County match of $354,461.00 is required, but would come from the <br />EDIAP portion of the ROAP funds and the HCCGB grant funds which <br />will be included in the Department's FY 2015 budget request. <br />A discussion ensued. During discussion, Mr. Bushey and Randy Bass, <br />Transportation Director responded to a variety of questions from the Board. <br />Hmm Services - Transportation Department - 5316 MRC Grant Rmduig - Public <br />Dearing 6:30 P.M. <br />Randy Bass, Transportation Director, presented the following <br />informtion relating to a request for the 5316 JARC Grant Funding: <br />The JARC grant is an enploy rent based grant designed to provide <br />transportation to Cabarrus County residents to access <br />transportation to and from enployffent or job - related training. <br />The current JARC program ( Cabarrus Links), serves Mt. Pleasant, <br />Harrisburg, Concord, Kannapolis and Midland. The new grant will <br />expand to provide transportation to and from the Cabarrus <br />Vocational Opportunities Workshop. The total funding requested <br />is $564,122.00. A local match of $282,061.00 is required and <br />will be included in the Department's FY 2015 budgetary request. <br />Mr. Bass responded to questions from the Board. Items addressed <br />included: expansion of services; trips dedicated to Cabarrus Vocational <br />Opportunities (CVO); shared ride utilization; taxi services; cost per trip; <br />revenue from grants; etc. <br />
