CABARRUS COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING
1
'- - 1 1
pTBcAa 1 -
fiiffJfl /
1
AGENDA CATEGORY:
Consent Agenda
SUBJECT:
EMS - Approval of Ambulance Piggyback Purchase - $387,000 & Related
Budget Amendment
BRIEF SUMMARY:
The purchase of three (3) new Type III ambulances by piggybacking a bid
awarded to Southeastern Specialty Vehicles, Inc. by Rockingham County,
NC., appropriating fund balance is requested. The total purchase cost is
$387,000 including taxes and tag. Buying these units now instead of next
fiscal year, will save the County a minimum of $7,000 - $11,000 each. This is
based on the New NFPA 1917 Ambulance Standards which will replace the
Triple K Standards that have been in place since the 1970's. The new
ambulances will replace ones that have outlived their usefulness and
complies with the County's vehicle replacement policy. The following budget
amendment utilizes fund balance to make this purchase.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Consider a motion to approve the piggyback of Rockingham County's bid to
purchase three (3) new Type III ambulances at a cost of $125,999 each and
adopt the related budget amendment.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
SUBMITTED BY:
David Hampton, EMS Director
BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED:
Yes
F -5 Page 96
