CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF • • <br />* REGULAR MEETING <br />��8�a ��i ►� <br />MAY 21 <br />1 <br />`�iri�JJ1 /J� <br />6: 30 P .M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Library (Cabarrus Literacy Council) - Continuation of Adult Basic Literacy <br />Services & Contract <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />In May 2011, the County entered into an Agreement with the Cabarrus <br />Literacy Council to provide adult basic literacy services (ABS) <br />administered by the Cabarrus County Public Library. <br />As required by the Agreement, the CLC has updated its strategic plan; <br />and at its March meeting, the CLC board voted unanimously to <br />recommend the continuation of the administration of the ABS program <br />through the Library. Likewise, the County must also vote annually on the <br />continuation of the administration of the ABL program by the Library, no <br />later than June 30 of each year. <br />A copy of the Agreement, strategic plan, board roster and budgets for FY <br />11 -12 and 12 -13 are provided for your review. <br />The CLC Board believes this arrangement has worked extremely well for <br />all parties. The Library Director fully supports the partnership and is in <br />favor of continuing. No county funds are requested. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the continuation of the administration of the Adult Basic <br />Literacy program by the Library and associated contract for FY 12 -13. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />F -10 Page 117 <br />
