Cabarrus County Zoning Ordinance Chapter 2 -Rules of Construction and Definitions EXTRACTION OF EARTH PRODUCTS- Mining activities as defined in N.C. General Statute 74- 49; summarized as the breaking of surface soil in order to remove minerals, ore, or other solid materials. FABRICATION- Building structures by cutting, bending, and assembling pieces. FAMILY- For purposes of this Ordinance, family shall be defined as an individual or two or more persons related by blood, marriage or adoption, living together in a dwelling unit; or a group of not more than five persons who need not be related by blood, marriage, or adoption, living together in a dwelling unit. A "family" may include five or fewer foster children. FAMILY CARE HOME- A home with support and supervisory personnel that provides room and board, personal care, and rehabilitation services in a family environment for not more than six (6) resident elderly or handicapped persons. "Handicapped person" means a person with a temporary or permanent physical, emotional, or mental disability including but not limited to mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, hearing and sight impairments, emotional disturbances, and orthopedic impairments but not including mentally ill persons who are dangerous to others, as defined in North Carolina General Statute §V22C- 3(11)b. FARM, BONA FIDE- The produ 'on d activities relating to or incidental to the production of crops, fruits, vegetables, or I and flowering plants, dairy, livestock, poultry, and all other forms of agriculture'as 'efined in North Carolina General Statute § 106 - 581.1. For purposes of determining whether 'a property is being used for bona fide farm purposes, any of the following shall constitute sufficient evidence that the property is being used for bona fide farm purposes: a. A farm sales,tax exemption certificate issued by the Department of Revenue. b. A C dp� of the property tax listing showing that the property is eligible for ion in the present use value program pursuant to North Carolina e I Statute § 105 - 277.3. C. ropy of the farm owner's or operator's Schedule F from the owner's or d` o erator's most recent federal income tax return. A forest management plan. A Farm Identification Number issued by the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency. FARMER'S MARKET- A place where produce is brought for the purposes of retail sales. There may be more than one seller per parcel of land. The site may or may not include a permanent structure where the sellers can set up their produce.
