1 W <br />CABARRUS <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />State Performance Metrics <br />In 2011, the North Carolina Department of Commerce Business and Industry Division announced they supported <br />24,666 jobs and added nearly $1.9 billion to the Charlotte Region economy. Of those nearly 25,000 jobs, 24% were <br />valued in Cabarrus County which includes new, retained and jobs enhanced by the workforce investment act services <br />and training program. <br />Drilling down further into the jobs number, Celgard received a Jobs Development Investment Grant (JDIG) for their <br />$105,000,000 expansion which included 250 additional jobs at the Concord facility. It would also <br />include investments made to the Celgard facility, FlyRight and the new building for SP Richards. <br />Through the NC Department of Commerce and Governor Bev Perdue, Cabarrus County announced $184,550,000 new <br />or expanded investment for 2011, and Cabarrus saw an additional 11,550,000 capital investment by new and <br />expanding businesses.
