CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF • • <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 17 2 0 12 <br />`�iri�JJ1 /J� <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />ITS - Memorandum of Agreement to Provide Managed Network Services <br />to Kannapolis City Schools <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County ITS ( CCITS) and Kannapolis City Schools (KCS) <br />personnel have been working together to efficiently plan and deploy <br />technology services. A recent retirement of the KCS network engineer has <br />created a challenge for KCS in supporting their voice and data network. <br />This vacancy has given CCITS and KCS an opportunity to review the <br />current KCS network support structure. As an alternative to filling the <br />vacant position, CCITS has offered to provide KCS with Managed <br />Network Services. CCITS will provide KCS with a team of professionals as <br />opposed to one person to proactively monitor, maintain, diagnose and <br />repair the KCS voice and data network. The revenue from the managed <br />services contract will be used to add an additional network technician to <br />the CCITS team. The additional position is required to mitigate impact on <br />the County's network support and services. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the ITS Memorandum of Agreement to provide <br />Managed Network Services to Kannapolis City Schools. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Deborah A.
