1 <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 2011 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />' Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />' EMS - Approval of Ambulance Piggyback Purchase - $250,000 & Related <br />Budget Amendment <br />' BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The purchase of two (2) new Type III ambulances by piggybacking a bid <br />' awarded to Southeastern Specialty Vehicles, Inc. by Wake County, N.C., <br />using contingency funds is requested. The purchase price per unit is <br />$125,000, which is a savings of $2,527 per unit below Wake County's <br />awarded cost. The total purchase cost is $250,000. Buying these units now <br />instead of next fiscal year, will save the County a minimum of $5,000. The <br />new ambulances will replace ones that have outlived their usefulness and <br />complies with County's vehicle replacement policy.
