I Review of Major Milestones for the Council <br />What have we achieved over the past year? <br />After opening remarks, Aaron Newton reviewed the Food Policy Council's key accomplishments <br />and milestones since it was formed in 2010. Following are the accomplishments highlighted in this <br />segment: <br />• Monday, April 19 2010 - Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners adopts a resolution <br />creating the Cabarrus County Food Policy Council <br />• Monday, May 17 2010 - Food Policy Council inaugural membership adopted by Board of <br />Commissioners <br />• Thursday, June 10 2010 - First Food Policy Council meeting <br />• Thursday, July 8 th 2010 — Food Policy Council begins coordination with the Center for <br />Environmental Farming Systems on the Cabarrus County Community Food Assessment <br />• Thursday, August 12 — Food Policy Council adopts the 10% NC Local campaign <br />• Friday, September 10 2010 — Food Policy Council begins participation in 10 days of the <br />Cabarrus County Fair with a Local Food Booth <br />• Monday, October 18 2010 -Board of Commissioners adopts a 10% Local Food <br />Purchasing Policy as recommended by the Food Policy Council <br />• Thursday, November 10 2010 - Food Policy Council adopts a Standing Committee <br />structure to facilitate work outside of regular meetings <br />• Saturday, December 4 th 2010 — Cabarrus County wins Carolina Farm Stewardship <br />Institution of the Year award.
