The amendment will cap the amount of <br />benefits available through Work First Emergency Assistance and Work <br />First 200% at $300 for both programs collectively. In addition, clients will <br />be required to complete the financial counseling course offered through <br />Cooperative Extension to receive future benefits from these services. <br />This amendment is requested to have consistency throughout all services <br />that provide emergency assistance in the Work First program, and to <br />require financial counseling when services are received. Funds <br />for services are limited and capped within the Work First budget, with <br />changes in the Crisis Intervention Program anticipated, to cap the benefit <br />level collectively should help meet the needs of the citizens while <br />maintaining costs. <br />The Work First Plan is a document that provides the model of practice <br />used by Cabarrus County for services within the program. Changes <br />requested for this plan must receive both county and state approval. The <br />DSS Board of Directors approved this amendment at its June 23, 2011 <br />meeting. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve amendment to the Work First Plan. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />F -3 Page 97 <br />
