It's a goal we met, and fDi ranked Charlotte on top for foreign direct investment Center <br />strategy in its 2011 American Cities of the Future rankings. We plan on generating (Building A) <br />another 25 percent of qualified projects from international companies during our 4209 Old <br />2011 -2012 fiscal year. Charlotte <br />Highway <br />Foreign direct investment is a winning strategy. It brings "new" businesses to the Monroe <br />U.S. that broaden the local, state and national tax bases and create jobs that Agenda <br />previously didn't exist in this country. Registration <br />According to the just - released U.S. Department of Commerce report "Foreign Direct <br />Bastille Day <br />Investment in the United States," majority -owned U.S. affiliates of foreign companies <br />Festival <br />have employed between 5 million and 6 million workers during the last 10 years, <br />Sponsored <br />almost 2 million of those in manufacturing. These jobs tend to be both higher paying <br />by French <br />and more stable than domestic manufacturing jobs. <br />American <br />Chamber of <br />Foreign direct investment in the U.S. is big business, $194 billion last year, and $1.7 <br />Commerce <br />trillion over the last 10 years. The vast majority — nearly 85 percent — comes from <br />July 16, 3 -8 <br />just eight countries: Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, the <br />Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. With the exception of having <br />p.m. <br />Extravaganza <br />more companies from Italy than Luxembourg, our region's FDI mirrors the national <br />Depot <br />profile. With vibrant international communities from the "big eight" countries in our <br />Charlotte <br />region, FDI holds particular potential to attract other businesses from these <br />Details <br />countries.
