GHSP -01 <br />Goal #1: The Cabarrus County Sheriffs Office and the Town of Harrisburg, NC seeks to reduce reported Motor Vehicle <br />Crashes through innovative combined speed enforcement and education. <br />_ ----- ---------------------- <br />_ -- <br />Objectives: Enforce applicable speed laws with the use of LIDAR laser speed devices for accurate speed enforcement and <br />conduct well advertised zero tolerance speed enforcement campaigns with the use of speed monitoring awareness <br />e <br />Goal #2: Increase outside agency participation in seatbelt and DWI checkpoints. <br />Objectives: Coordinate and implement 12 seatbelt and 4 DWI checkpoints during the year <br />Goal #3: Decrease the number of motor vehicle crashes from 310 to 280, a 10% reduction from the previous calendar year. <br />Objectives: Decrease motor vehicle accidents by increasing speed enforcement and speed awareness campaigns. <br />Outlined are the goals ofl�Governors HljhWay Safety Program. The GHSP's goal is to reduce that number 25 percent <br />from the 2005 -2009 a verage of 1,505 to 1,1 29 by 2015. i <br />Ei In 2010, there were 412 alcohol - related fatalities in North Carolina. The GHSP's goal is to reduce that number 35 percent <br />from the 2005 -2009 average of 445 to 289 by 2015 <br />❑ In 2010, there were 419 unrestrained fatalities in North Carolina. The GHSP's goal is to reduce that by 30 percent from the <br />2005 -2009 avera of 486 to 340 by 201 <br />® In 2010, there were 379 speed - related fatalities in North Carolina. The GHSP's goal is to reduce that by 25 percent from the <br />2005 -2009 averag of 543 to 407 by 20 15. <br />❑ In 2010, there were 170 motorcycle fatalities in North Carolina.
