Cabarrus
v Schools
Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) — QSCB Project Budget Modifications
August 26, 2011
Food Service Improvements — Kitchen Hood Modifications
This project was bid in four parts to reflect the four separate schools that were designated to receive
replacement kitchen hoods. These schools were Beverly Hills, R. Brown McAllister, and Coltrane Webb
Elementary Schools and Mt. Pleasant Middle School. The bids for each of the projects, as well as a
combined bid for all four projects, exceeded the established project construction budgets. CCS would
like to eliminate the project for Coltrane Webb Elementary School and put those dollars into the other
three projects so they can be fully completed.
J.N. Fries Middle School (JNFMS) — Servers. Switches. Wireless and Wirin
This project was bid in four parts to reflect the various portions of work as noted in the project title. The
combined bids exceeded the established project construction budget by $22,570. There is also a need to
add more data drops to provide greater access for desktop computers in the school. The added cost for
this work will be approximately $13,000.
CCS would like to eliminate the wireless projects at Mt. Pleasant and Hickory Ridge High Schools and put
those dollars into the J.N. Fires project so that it can be fully completed. The funds that would be
coming from the two high school wireless projects total $45,000.00. It is the intention of the School
District to purchase the wireless systems for Mt. Pleasant and Hickory Ridge High Schools in the near
future using funds from another source.
Page 40
