1792 - r - <br />* J <br />To: Board of Commissioners <br />From: Kelly Sifford, AICP <br />Re: Attainment of additional American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds <br />Date: August 26, 2011 <br />Cabarrus County has the opportunity to obtain additional stimulus funding for the <br />Weatherization program. The Weatherization Program provides energy efficiency measures to <br />low income families in Cabarrus County. Activities include air sealing, insulation, hvac repairs, <br />installation of cfl light bulbs, aerators, low flow shower heads and other cost saving measures. <br />The state has funding available for reallocation that was originally earmarked for training. This <br />funding is available to agencies that have met expenditure deadlines and had acceptable <br />monitoring results. Based on the number of clients on the waiting list, staff is requesting Board <br />approval to obtain $75,000 more dollars. This should allow us to complete the ARRA program <br />without a substantial waiting list for services. <br />Attachment number 1 <br />G -5 Page 584 <br />
