CABARRUS
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Health Care and Social Assistance — NAICS 62
40
Health Care and Social Assistance The Health Care and Social
% of Total Employment by County 4Q10 Assistance sector comprises
establishments providing health
18 _ care and social assistance for
16 individuals. The sector includes
14 both health care and social
12 assistance because it is
10 sometimes difficult to distinguish
8 between the boundaries of these
6 two activities. The industries in this
4 sector are arranged on a
2 continuum starting with those
0 establishments providing medical
P` ` ` G° ,` care exclusively, continuing with
G 0 G G G G G CO G G G
o`` t ',-0 those providing health care and
pa °a \AGO oKN 0 5 J social assistance, and finally
P c; db Gam° o finishing with those providing only
o social assistance. The services
provided by establishments in this
sector are delivered by trained professionals. All industries in the sector share this commonality of
process, namely, labor inputs of health practitioners or social workers with the requisite expertise. Many
of the industries in the sector are defined based on the educational degree held by the practitioners
included in the industry. Excluded from this sector are aerobic classes in Subsector 713, Amusement,
Gambling and Recreation Industries and nonmedical diet and weight reducing centers in Subsector 812,
Personal and Laundry Services. Although these can be viewed as health services, these services are not
typically delivered by health practitioners.
Health Care and Social
Assistance
Total Emp in Cabarrus, NC
12000
10000
8000
6000
4000
2000
Health Care and Social
Assistance
% of Total Emp in Cabarrus, NC
20.0000
15.0000
10.0000
5.0000
0.0000
I — 12.9ti
15.3367
4Q1998 4Q2002 4Q2006 4Q2010
Health Care and Social Assistance Local Examples:
Cabarrus Family Medicine
NorthEast Ears, Nose, and Throat Center
Mashburn, Zsambeky, Rodgers Denistry
Cabarrus Economic Development 3003 Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC 28083 USA
704.782.4000 1 CabarrusEDC.com I Face Book.com /CabarrusEDC I Twitter.com /CabarrusEDC
INTERNATIONALECONOA C
//. // /O /O:P'.M[J-/1ENyTCCOOUUUNCIL
Altaai .0 bYdW ryAO¢rtiw
1 -1 Page 486
4Q1998 4Q2002 4Q2006 4Q2010
