CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONER; <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 15, 2010 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />BOC - Request to Increase Rabies Vaccination for Dogs and Cats <br />Administered During Countywide Rabies Clinic <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The County received a request to increase the amount charged for rabies <br />vaccination for dogs and cats administered during the annual county <br />sponsored rabies clinic. General Statute 130A-187 (county rabies <br />vaccination clinics) authorizes the Board of Commissioners to establish a <br />fee for this service and the fee amount may consist of the following: (1) A <br />charge for administering and storing the vaccine, not to exceed ten dollars <br />($10.00). (2) The actual cost of the rabies vaccine, the vaccination <br />certificate, and the rabies vaccination tag. A copy of the Statue is <br />included for informational purposes. <br />The Animal Protection & Preservation Advisory Committee met <br />on February 1 and unanimously agreed to recommend to the Board of <br />Commissioners that the rabies vaccination fee be increased to $10. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Receive an update from Commissioner Carrurth who serves on the <br />Animal Protection & Preservation Advisory Committee, if needed. <br />' Motion to increase the fee for rabies vaccinations administered during the <br />annual county sponsored rabies clinic to $10.00 as authorized by <br />NCGS 130A-187. <br />' EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />5 Minutes <br />' G-3 Page 126 <br />
