CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 15, 2010 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Sheriff's Dept. -Proclamation Declaring April 11-17, 2010 as "Public <br />Safety Telecommunicator's Week" in Cabarrus County <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The second full week of April has been recognized as National Public <br />Safety Telecommunicator Week (NPSTW) honoring the <br />telecommunicators who are always available to answer the call. NPSTW <br />was started in 1981 to put a special focus on public safety <br />telecommunications professionals for their contributions to the safety and <br />security of communities around the world. The Association of Public- <br />Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International convinced <br />Congress of the need for a formal proclamation in 1991; it became <br />permanent in 1994. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to adopt proclamation. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Capt Phillip J.
