CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 19, 2010 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Tax Dept. - 2006 Motor Vehicle Receivable Write -off <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Per NCGS 105- 373(h) the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />may relieve the Tax Collector of the charge of taxes on motor vehicles <br />that are one or more years past due when it appears that the taxes are <br />uncollectable. Historically, the Board of Commissioners have relieved the <br />tax collector of the charge of these taxes when they become three (3) <br />years past due. The Tax Collector's office has exhausted all means of <br />collections on vehicle taxes due for the 2006/2007 tax year. The amount <br />to be written off is $164,970.34 as of July 1, 2010. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to grant relief to the Tax Collector of the charge of collecting taxes <br />on classified motor vehicles for the 2006/2007 tax year. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />J.
