CABARRUS COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 16, 2010
6:30 P.M.
AGENDA CATEGORY:
Appointments to Boards and Committees
SUBJECT:
Appointment - Region F Aging Advisory Committee
BRIEF SUMMARY:
An application to the Region F Aging Advisory Committee has been
received from Ms. Mary "Beth" Croom. Gayla Woody, with the Centralina
Council of Governments (CCOG), requests Ms. Croom be appointed to
the delegate position currently held by Ms. Anita Helms. An exception to
the "service on multiple boards" provision of the Appointment Policy is
needed for Ms. Croom since she already serves on the Home and
Community Care Block Grant Committee.
Ms. Anita Helms has completed her third term and is not eligible to
serve another term as a delegate. However, she is willing and eligible to
be appointed as an Alternate for a one -year term ending June 30, 2011.
This position has been vacant for some time. An exception to the
"service on multiple boards" provision of the Appointment Policy is needed
for Ms. Helms since she also serves on the Dept. of Aging Advisory
Board.
There are no other applications on file to consider at this time. Mike
Murphy, Aging Director, has provided a memorandum addressing the
importance of having local representation on the Region F Aging Advisory
Board.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Motion to appoint Ms. Mary "Beth" Croom to the Region F Aging Advisory
Committee to fill a delegate position for a two -year term ending June 30,
2011, including an exception to the "service on multiple boards" provision
H -3 Page 229
