Springfield Free Public Library /Township of Springfield <br />Introduction: <br />The library is seeking firm quotations for a new Integrated Library System (ILS). <br />1. Mandatory Requirement: <br />The ILS shall run on the Windows 2008 platform using the SQL Server or Full Oracle (not embedded) <br />database. No other operating systems or databases will be acceptable. Please provide costs on the <br />enclosed form, along with 5 -year maintenance costs. The library has no obligation to award to the low <br />bidder, and reserves the right to select the vendor it deems most suitable; or, at its sole discretion, reject <br />all responses. <br />2. Background Information on Library <br />It is the objective of this RFP to obtain a system that will automate the major functions of the library as <br />outlined below. Our goal is to serve the library patrons with an efficient and user friendly computer based <br />system while offering staff members a system that is easy to use, allows easy chaining between modules <br />and operations, and offers a wide variety of statistical reports. It is the goal of the Springfield Free Public <br />Library to obtain an automation system that consists of the following components: <br />o Online Public Access Catalog <br />o Cataloging and Authority Control <br />o Circulation <br />o Child- friendly interface <br />o Acquisitions with fund accounting <br />o Inventory Control <br />o Systems Administration <br />o Report Features <br />o WebPac <br />o Z39.50 client <br />o SIP 2 <br />The vendor must include all costs for software, hardware, data conversion, installation, training, travel and <br />accommodations and ongoing support for the system in the proposal. The vendor must also clearly state <br />the cost of all required hardware, software or staff training that is required for operation of the system but <br />assumed by the library. The Library will be providing all hardware for the workstations; therefore, the <br />proposal should not include costs for workstation hardware. <br />The Springfield Free Public Library is a public library serving the town of Springfield, New Jersey. The <br />Library is located approximately 10 miles west of Newark, New Jersey. The Springfield Free Public <br />Library has a single main library and is not connected electronically or administratively with any other <br />library organization. <br />The Springfield Free Public Library serves a population of slightly more than 14,000 and is utilized by <br />patrons from nearby towns in Union and Middlesex counties. <br />The Springfield Free Public Library currently uses the Sirsi /Dynix Horizon Cataloging, Acquisitions, <br />Circulation, and Public Access Catalog systems. The system was installed in 2002. <br />The library employs one part-time network administrator working 18 hours a week. We also have a <br />reference /technology librarian who devotes approximately 14 hours a week to technology issues including <br />maintenance of the web page, databases, the Horizon system and technology based collections.
