Section 4 <br />Waste Management Reduction Programs <br />O <br />e <br />0 <br />C <br />d <br />.n v <br />s <br />d <br />0 <br />a <br />�J <br />� $ <br />F -15 <br />Town or County staff collects solid waste from <br />small businesses or CII establishments as requested <br />and self -hauls to a disposal facility. <br />Recyclables Collection <br />As noted in Table 4 -2, all Cabarrus County <br />jurisdictions provide curbside collection of <br />residential recyclables using a private contractor, <br />with the exception of Kannapolis. The City of <br />Kannapolis is evaluating implementing a curbside <br />recycling program. The Town of Midland <br />implemented a curbside recycling program in April <br />2008. The County curbside recycling program was <br />implemented in January 2008. <br />Recyclables are collected on a weekly basis by all <br />jurisdictions that offer curbside pick -up. <br />Alternatively, residents can drop -off recyclables at <br />the convenience center at the County Household <br />Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility, the convenience <br />center at the Cabarrus County Landfill, or the <br />drop -off center in Kannapolis. <br />Yard Waste <br />Curbside yard waste collection service is offered in <br />three municipalities on a weekly or every other <br />week basis depending on the season. Each of the <br />three municipalities uses their own staff and <br />equipment to collect yard waste. Cabarrus County <br />accepts yard waste at the landfill but does not <br />currently offer curbside pick -up. <br />The Town of Harrisburg collects loose leaves, grass <br />clippings, and limbs on a weekly basis. Residents <br />that have yard waste exceeding a full truckload <br />(16'x6'x4') are charged $100. The yard waste <br />collected by the Town is disposed at the Highway <br />49 Reprocessing Center. <br />The City of Kannapolis is under contract with <br />Waste Management to provide yard waste <br />collection services. Loose leaves, limbs, and bagged <br />yard waste is collected in season beginning mid - <br />October and ending late winter on a bi- weekly <br />basis.
