ADDITION <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 18, 2010 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Recognitions and Presentations <br />SUBJECT: <br />BOC - Recognition of Dr. Pamela Cain, Superintendent of Kannapolis City <br />Schools <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />(W On May 20, 2010, the Kannapolis City Board of Education voted to hire <br />Dr. Pamela Cain as its new superintendent of schools. Dr. Cain has over <br />20 years of experience in the field of education, serving at the state, <br />county and school levels and most recently as assistant state school <br />superintendent for the State of West Virginia from September of 2000 <br />through May, 2010. Her vast experience also includes service as the <br />superintendent of schools for Harrison and Wirt counties in West Virginia, <br />an assistant professor of education, and an elementary and special <br />education teacher. Dr. Cain holds an education doctorate (Ed.D.) in <br />Curriculum and Instruction from West Virginia University, and Certification <br />in Educational Administration from West Virginia College of Graduate <br />Studies. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Recognize Dr. Cain and welcome her to Cabarrus County. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />5 Minutes <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Kay Honeycutt, Clerk to the Board <br />C -1 Page 60 <br />
