While the Average Daily Rate (ADR) in Cabarrus County remains down, the fact that both supply and demand have increased bodes well for the future of tourism. As the economy recovers and room rates improve, Cabarrus County is well positioned to see continued growth and increased tourism revenues for Fiscal Year 2010/2011. Tourism revenues have a direct effect on both the county's hotel properties and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. As a destination marketing organization, the CVB receives 98.5 percent of its funding from an occupancy tax levied on visitors who stay in lodging properties in the county. The remaining additional revenue comes from cooperative advertising and visitor center retail sales. The organization's revenue is dependent on Cabarrus County tourism, and each year we reinvest that revenue in Cabarrus County tourism through our marketing, sales and services efforts. Ensuring a return on the investment of these tax dollars is vital. Our allocations, decisions and investments are made with the ultimate goal of maximizing hotel stays, visitor spending and overall economic impact.
