Mount Pleasant can act to lessen and eventually eliminate repetitive flood losses and <br />prevent future loss from inappropriate new development. <br />2. Communities that regulate development in floodplains are able to join the National <br />Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). In return, the NFIP provides federally backed flood <br />insurance for properties in the community.
