HARRISBURG AREA LAND USE PLAN <br />Parks and Recreation <br />Parks and Recreation: Recognizes existing <br />parks serving the area. They are depicted <br />on the map for reference only. They vary <br />in size and range of activities supported, <br />depending on the type of park. <br />Parks are a type of land use that can be <br />accommodated in all land use categories. <br />Very Low - Density Residential (VLDR) <br />Very Low Density: Intended to remain <br />predominantly rural in character while <br />allowing residential uses to occur at very <br />low densities. <br />Predominant Use(s): Single- family <br />residential (density from 1 dwelling unit <br />per 1 -2 acres, or if additional development <br />standards are met, up to 2 dwelling units <br />per acre). <br />Characteristics: <br />• Agricultural uses are present. <br />• Scenic views are maintained. <br />• Natural features are avoided by <br />The Very Low - Density Residential land use <br />category is intended to remain <br />predominantly rural in character, allowing <br />development. one house per one to two acres. <br />• Trees and large naturally vegetated <br />areas are preserved. <br />• Significant Natural Heritage Areas are avoided. <br />• Conservation subdivision is a common approach to development design. <br />• Architecture is sensitively integrated into the landscape. <br />• Two -lane roads with shoulder and swale or ditch (no curb and gutter) <br />constitute typical transportation rights -of -way. <br />PART V: THE HARRISBURG AREA LAND USE MAP <br />A�pUST ?010 <br />ttachmen number 1 <br />G -1 Page 355 <br />The Parks and Recreation land use category <br />is intended to show the existing parks <br />serving the area. <br />
