consistent with the hazard mitigation plan and will not contribute to increased <br />hazards in the jurisdiction. <br />(3) The public was involved in a number of areas: debriefing of major events; <br />public hearings were held as supporting ordinances and regulations were amended <br />and the Water Shed Improvement Commission accepts public comments related <br />to flooding and storm water issues. In addition, the Board of Commissioners <br />allow for general public comment at each of their monthly meetings. The <br />strategies will be continued and evaluated to ensure public input. <br />0) Public Education. The leaders of Cabarrus County know that education plays a <br />vital role in both the development and implementation of the hazard mitigation plan. <br />The plan can be used to encourage and promote public awareness and participation in <br />mitigation efforts. Mitigation planning can be used to as an educational tool to convey <br />to Cabarrus County citizens the danger of natural hazards and to outline strategies for <br />reducing or eliminating potential damage to lives and property within the county. <br />8. Supplemental Information. The attached annexes to the plan contain additional information to <br />supplement the details of the Hazard Mitigation Plan.
