<br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 20, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />C <br />n <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Parks -Adoption of Ordinance Prohibiting Registered Sex Offenders in <br />County Parks and Recreation Facilities & Public Hearing - 6:30 p.m. <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus County Parks Commission reviewed surrounding counties' <br />ordinances banning Registered Sex Offenders in County facilities and <br />asked the County Attorney to draft an Ordinance for Cabarrus to do the <br />same. After review of the Cabarrus County Draft Ordinance to ban <br />Registered Sex Offenders from all County Parks and Recreation Facilities, <br />the Parks Commission unanimously recommends this Ordinance to the <br />Board of Commissioners. The Cabarrus County Sheriff and District <br />Attorney have reviewed the Ordinance and agree that it can work jointly <br />with HB 933, which became law December 1, 2008 to assist in keeping <br />Registered Sex Offenders out of Cabarrus County Parks and Facilities.
