1 <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />~` >~ `~, BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />~,~s~ FEBRUARY 16, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Appointments to Boards and Committees <br />SUBJECT: <br />Appointments -Criminal Justice Partnership Program <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />An application for appointment to the Criminal Justice Partnership <br />Program (CJPP) has been received from Ms. Sally Coleman to fill the <br />"Victims Services" position in accordance with N.C.G.S. 143B-273.10(a) <br />(12). Ms. Karen King has also applied to be appointed to the CJPP to fill <br />the "Substance Abuse" seat. Because Ms. King resides in Mecklenburg <br />County, an exception to the residency requirement of the appointment <br />policy will be required. <br />Also, an application has been received from Ms. Revella Nesbit for <br />appointment to the CJPP to fill the vacant "Mental Health" seat. Ms. <br />Nesbit resides in Mecklenburg County and also serves on the Juvenile <br />Crime Prevention Council, therefore, an exception to the "service on <br />multiple boards" provision and to the residency requirement of the <br />appointment policy is requested. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to appoint Ms. Sally Column to the CJPP to complete aone-year <br />term ending February 28, 2010. <br />Motion to grant an exception to the appointment policy and appoint Ms. <br />Karen King to the Criminal Justice Partnership Program to fill the <br />"Substance Abuse" position and to complete aone-year term expiring <br />February 28, 2010. <br />Motion to grant an exception to the appointment policy and appoint Ms. <br />Revella Nesbit to the CJPP to fill the "Mental Health" position and to <br />complete aone-year term ending February 28, 2010.
