To balance the budget, an
equal reduction in expenditures is required. County operational expenses and
contributions to other agencies will be reduced by 2.9%. Similarly, public
school spending must be reduced by the same amount to balance the
budget. N.C.G.S. 159-13(b)(9) requires a public meeting to allow for
comments from the school boards on these reductions before the BOC votes
on the reductions.
REQUESTED ACTION:
1. Invite representatives of the Cabarrus County Board of Education and the
Kannapolis City Schools Board of Education to present information on the
impact of the proposed reductions in public school appropriations.
2. Motion to reduce school appropriations as described herein and adopt
corresponding budget amendment.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
1 Minute
SUBMITTED BY:
Pamela S.
