Scott Padgett
Mayor, City of Concord
26 Union St., South
Concord, NC 28025
Subject: City of Concord Traffic Management Center
Dear Mayor:
This letter indicates Cabarrus County's support of Concord seeking Congressional consideration
in applying federal funding in the FY 2010 FHWA appropriations process towards a proposed
Traffic Management Center. Cabarrus County recognizes that lessening congestion and
managing traffic throughout the region is essential in maximizing the use of our existing
transportation infrastructure and providing for continued economic opportunity and growth. We
also note that this project has widespread support among member jurisdictions of the Cabarrus
Rowan MPO as evidenced by their recent formal endorsement for the project's inclusion on the
state's Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP). Lastly, Cabarrus County is in full agreement with
your request that any funding should be °new money" and have no impact on the state's Equity
Formula.
Best wishes in your city's planning efforts towards providing a higher level of service for area
citizens and the traveling public in general.
Sincerely,
H.
