ANNUAL REPORT
of the
CABARRUSCOUNTY
NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
REPORTING YEAR 2008
REPORT SUMMARY.•
The Community Advisory Committees (CACs) serving Cabarrus do not have enough
members to serve the County or effectively fulfill their mandates, operating with only one-
third of the recommended number of volunteer members. As a result, long-term care
residents in Cabarrus County are not being visited as often as they should, according to
State minimum requirements. Committee members are concerned about the performance
of several of the county's facilities, but without more members, the CACs cannot visit these
facilities as often as needed. For several years, the CACs have asked the Commissioners
for their assistance in appointing new members and we are requesting them once again to
actively respond.
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
• State statute require fourteen (14) members be appointed to the Adult Care Home Community
Advisory Committee (ACHCAC); an additional five (5) members maybe appointed at the
discretion of the County Commissioners. At the time of this report, Cabarrus County
ACHCAC currently has six (6) members.
• State statute requires nine (9) members be appointed to the Nursing Home Community
Advisory Committee (NHCAC); an additional five (5) members may be appointed at the
discretion of the County Commissioners. Only one member served on this CAC for the
majority of the report period until more members were appointed in October. At the time of
this report, the NHCAC has five members, of which two are active, and the remaining
members must complete their orientation class.
C-1
D
t

i~
r
C
r
L

i]
fl
i
J
i~
C
0
Attachment number 1
