CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 20, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Transportation -Rural Operating Assistance Program (ROAP) Funding <br />and Public Hearing - 6:30 p.m. <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County Transportation will be applying for transportation funding <br />through the NC Department of Transportation, Public Transportation <br />Division for funding provided by the Rural Operations Assistance Program <br />totaling $243,947. Funding applied for is designated for transportation to <br />the Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program which must <br />be used to provide services to the elderly and/or disabled population who <br />otherwise are not eligible for program assistance to maintain access to <br />necessary life sustaining services; the Employment Transportation <br />Assistance Program which provides operating assistance for transitional <br />Work First Workforce Development Programs and the general public <br />employment transportation needs; and the Rural General Public Program <br />which provides transportation services to individuals who are not human <br />service agency clients and live in non-urbanized areas. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />1. Hold a public hearing. <br />2.
