i <br />No violations or releases of hazardous materials or petroleum products were identified on the subject site <br />from the government record review of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency {EPA) database and <br />the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) database. <br />The following violations or releases of hazardous materials or petroleum products were identified within <br />1-'/z miles of the subject site on the govemment record review: <br />1 Leaking Underaround Storage Tanks (LUST}/incident Management Database (IMD) <br />Haigler Carpet interiors {LUST/IMD incident # 27019) at 12872 Highway 601 is approximately 2,560 feet <br />northeast and cross-gradient of the subject site. The incident involved petroleum contamina#ion of sail <br />only. The site was permanently closed on March 14, 1997. Therefore, this incident is no# considered a <br />recognized environmental condition. <br />Regal Knitting (IMD incident #21603} at 13750 Broadway Avenue is approximately 2698 feet east of the <br />subject site and cross-gradient. The incident involved contamination of soil only, and was closed out on <br />August 21, 2000. `this incident is not considered a recognized environmental condition. <br />Corning, Inc. (iMD incident #86918) at Highway 601 S is approximately 2478 feet south of the subject <br />site and down-gradient. The incident involved petroleum contamination of soil only and was closed out <br />on December 17, 1999. This incident is not considered a recognized environmental condition. <br />Underground Storage Tank Database (UST) <br />Three facilities, McCoy Oil Co., Inc., R.L. Wallace Construction Co., and Harkey & Furr, are fisted as <br />having USTs. These facilities are cross-gradient of the subject site. The USTs are not considered a <br />recognlzed.environmental condition because no incidents were reported for these USTs. <br />Above ground Storage Tank Database (AST) <br />Three facilities, McCoy Oil Co., Inc., Griffin Oil Co., and Jordan & Fletcher Oil Ca, inc. are listed as having <br />ASTs. These facilities are cross-gradient of the subject site. The ASTs are not considered a recognized <br />~ environmental condition because no incidents were reported for these ASTs. <br />5.2 ADDITIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD SOURCES <br />Tribal Records: On October 10, 2008, Mr. Dean Canty, the environmental planner for the Catawba <br />Indian Nation was interviewed via telephone regarding tribal held records of hazardous materials or <br />petroleum incidents for Cabarrus County. Mr. Canty stated that they did not have any records for <br />Cabarrus County. Additionally, the North Carolina American Indian/American Native Fact Sheet from the <br />National Indian Child Welfare Association website indicated that there are no tribal lands in Cabarrus <br />County. A copy of the Fact Sheet is included in Appendix D. <br />1 Srownfieids Records: The North Carolina Brownfelds Program website was viewed for active <br />Brownfields sites near the subject site. The closest site is Scott Aviation at 309 W Crowell Street, <br />Monroe, Union County, North Carolina.
