CABARRUS COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 17, 2009
6:30 P.M.
AGENDA CATEGORY:
Consent Agenda
SUBJECT:
Sheriff -Award Contract for E9-1-1 Routing Services to Intrado, Inc.
BRIEF SUMMARY:
Currently, AT&T is providing our selective routing service for the E9-1-1
system for all three PSAP's (Concord, Kannapolis, and Sheriff). This
AT&T technology has not changed much since the initial implementation
in 1994. Intrado provides a new NG9-1-1 selective routing service which
integrates voice and data, enabling a more .efficient accommodation of
new technologies like VoIP, while providing more control over E9-1-1 call
routing. This route service not only is more efficient and robust, but
actually costs less per month than the current AT&T system. On an
average the county can expect to see a savings of between $5,000 to
$10,000 per month.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Motion to approve the Lease Agreement between Cabarrus County and
Intrado, Inc for the NG9-1-1 selective routing service. Authorize the
County Manager to execute the Agreement on behalf of Cabarrus County,
subject to review or revisions by the County Attorney.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
SUBMITTED BY:
Capt Phillip J. Patterson, Lt. Ray Gilleland, Sheriffs Department
Todd Shanley, ITS
BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED:
F-9
