CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 17, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Finance -School Construction Fund and 2009 School Construction Fund - <br />Contingency Request for Cox Mill High ($225,000), Carl A. Furr Elementary <br />($15,000), and Bus Maintenance Facility ($15,000), Totaling $255,000 <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Education is requesting three items be funded <br />through contingency funds within each project. <br />1) The County was unable to provide $150,000 of start-up funds and $75,000 <br />of custodial equipment for the opening of Cox Mill High School. Therefore, <br />the Board of Education is requesting the $225,000 be obtained from the Cox <br />Mill High School Construction Contingency budgeted line item. The budget <br />request has not been formally approved by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Education. They will wait until the County has approved this movement of <br />funds. <br />2) On July 13, 2009, the Cabarrus County Board of Education approved a <br />$15,000 proposal from CESI (Concord Engineering and Surveying) for <br />additional material testing services at Carl A Furr Elementary School. The <br />Board of Education is requesting the $15,000 be obtained from the Carl A. <br />Furr Construction Contingency budgeted line item. <br />3) On July 13, 2009, the Cabarrus County Board of Education approved a <br />$15,000 proposal from CESI for additional material testing services at the Bus <br />Maintenance Facility. The Board of Education is requesting the $15,000 be <br />obtained from the Bus Maintenance Facility Construction Contingency <br />budgeted line item. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Page 248 of 315 <br />G-2 <br />
