CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARDS, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners makes appointments to a number of boards, <br />committees, ~ commissions and authorities. All citizens of Cabarrus County are encouraged to <br />volunteer to serve on these boards/committees. To obtain an application for appointment or for <br />more information, please contact Kay Honeycutt, Clerk to the Board, at the Governmental Center, <br />65 Church Street, SE, Concord, or call (704) 920-2109. The application may also be downloaded <br />from the County's website at www.cabarruscounty.us. <br />Applications are needed for the following boards/committees: <br />ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />This committee seeks to maintain the intent of the Adult Care Home Residents Bill of Rights <br />and to promote community involvement with the homes (homes for the aged, family care <br />homes and homes for developmentally disabled adults). Members cannot be employed by <br />an adult care home nor have any financial interest, directly or indirectly, in an adult care <br />home. Immediate family of an adult care home resident in Cabarrus County cannot serve on <br />the committee. Initial appointment is for a term of one year with successive appointments of <br />three-year terms. <br />ANIMAL PRESERVATION 8~ PROTECTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />The committee's purposes are outlined as follows: (1) Review current operations of <br />Cabarrus County Animal Control; (2) Provide educational materials in several languages to <br />the Cabarrus County residents on Spay/Neuter, proper feeding, housing, and healthcare for <br />pets; (3) Establish a protocol for the availability for low cost spaying and neutering of pets <br />belonging to indigent residents of Cabarrus County. Members serve two-year terms. <br />CONCORD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />The Commission guides, reviews and regulates land developments within and around the <br />boundaries of the City of Concord. The County Commissioners appoint one member who <br />resides in Concord's extraterritorial jurisdiction area for a term of three years. <br />CRIMINAL JUSTICE PARTNERSHIP ADVISORY BOARD <br />The advisory board examines the local criminal justice system and identifies areas that could <br />be improved through local community-based programs. Members include the following: <br />County Commissioner; County Manager; Superior Court Judge, District Court Judge; District <br />Attorney; Criminal Defense Attorney; County Sheriff; City Police Chief; Probation Officer; <br />Community Service Coordinator; one member from the service areas of Mental Health, <br />Public Health, Substance Abuse, Employment and Training, Community Based Corrections <br />Program and Victim Services Program; Member of the Business Community, Victim of Crime <br />and other At Large Members. Appointments are for terms of three years. <br />INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES AND POLLUTION CONTROL FINANCING AUTHORITY <br />This authority provides for the issuance of revenue bonds to aid in financing (1) industrial <br />June 9, 2008 <br />Attachment number 1 <br />Page 300 of 315 <br />I-1 <br />
