For example, if an employee normally finished <br />work at a particular job site at 5:00 ~rtt:PM, but is required to go to another job which is finished at 8:00 <br />p~:PM, and then is required to return to the employer's premises arriving at 9:00 trt~:PM, all of the time is <br />working time. However, if the employee goes home instead of returning to the employer's premises, the h•avel <br />after 8:00 p:nt:PM is home-to-work travel and is not counted as hours worked. <br />(d) Overnight Travel. Travel that keeps an employee away from home overnight is travel away from <br />home. All overnight travel is not considet•ed work time under the PLSA, however, the County elects to pay for <br />actual and reasonable travel as work hours. <br />Section 4S. Minimum Wage <br />All non-exempt employees of a local governmental unit may not be paid less than the current federal or state <br />minimum wage, whichever is higher. <br />Section ~G. Overtime <br />Official Workweek <br />The official workweek-pet~ecl for all county employees, except law enforcement personnel, is 40 hours over a <br />seven day, 1G8 hour consecutive work period. The official work period for law enforcement employees is <br />-1 ~1.8G hours over a period of ~8 14 consecutive days. The official work period for all county employees begins <br />on Friday at 12:01 AM and ends on Thursday at 12:00 midnight, unless excepted below. The workweek, once <br />established, may not be changed unless the change is intended to be permanent. A~„~loyz;-•The County may <br />have one work period applicable to all of its employees, or have different work periods for different employees <br />or groups of employees. <br />The oliicia) workweek for the Civilian Teleconununicator position begins on Thursday at 7:00 AM and ends the <br />following Thursday at G:59 AM. <br />Regular Rate <br />The regular rate is the equivalent hourly rate at which an employee is achtally paid for normal, non- overtime <br />hours. The regular rate includes base pay, merit pay, career incentives pay, longevity pay, on call pay and all <br />other pay actually received. The regular rate does not include gigs, pay for annual leave or sick leave, certain <br />discretionary bonuses, er~leyer-contributions to fringe benefits or, as stipulated in tftean employment contract, <br />extra Dona tide premium compensation for working overtime, for working Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, <br />and for working hours outside the normal workweek or workday if at least one and one-half times the normal <br />rate is paid. <br />When pay iu addition to the base salary is paid to an employee for a weekly period, the bonus is added to the <br />employee's other earnings before the regular rate is determined. Where the additional pay is paid for a longer <br />period of time, the etn~leyer-County may temporarily disregard the bonus and just pay overtime pay at one and <br />one-half times the regular rates. When the additional pay can be ascertained, it is apportioned back over the <br />workweeks of the period during which the additional pay was earned by the employee.
