CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 21, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Convention and Visitors Bureau -Sports Complex <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />In an effort to boost Cabarrus County's tourism economy (increase room <br />nights), the Convention and Visitors Bureau's (CVB) Board of Directors <br />has voted to dedicate 10% of their annual revenues to fund the <br />construction/development of a championship level youth softball/baseball <br />complex. The proposed complex will be designed to host regional and <br />national youth sporting events. The CVB is requesting to partner with <br />Cabarrus County in this endeavor by providing the use of the remainder of <br />the WW Flowe property (60 acres) that was donated to the county for a <br />park/recreation use. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Consider a motion to approve the Convention and Visitors Bureau's <br />request to partner with Cabarrus County in the development of a <br />championship level youth softball/baseball complex on the remainder of <br />the W.W.
