CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 16, 2009 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />County Manager -Fleet Policy -Convert Policy from Board-Approved <br />Policy to Administrative Policy <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />On June 1, 1992, the Board of Commissioners adopted the current Fleet <br />Policy Guidelines for the Use of County Owned Vehicles and is <br />included as reference material. The guidelines for the new Policy revolve <br />around Risk Management issues, IRS regulations (tax issues), and <br />personnel issues concerning employees' use and behavior while <br />operating acounty-owned vehicle. Other cost aspects of the Policy are a <br />direct result of annual budgetary issues. In light of these ever changing <br />conditions, it would be beneficial to the management team if this policy <br />was converted from aBoard-approved policy to an administrative policy <br />subject to change at the county manager's discretion. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to convert the Fleet Policy from aBoard-approved policy to an <br />administrative policy promulgated by the county manager. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Pamela S.
