Cabarrus County Parks Department
Carolina Thread Trail Greenway Masterplan
The following is information requested by the BOC at the October Work Session:
• Primary CTT Route (pink lines) 12,601 adjacent parcels within '/. mile
• County Greenway Route (green lines) 16,497 adjacent parcels within'/. mile
• 29,080 parcels adjacent to the total Greenway Plan
• To mail out anotice/letter to each adjacent property owner of the complete plan would
cost approximately $25,000 (printing, postage, addresses)
• Public Input consisted of:
1. 3 Public Workshops
2. 730+ Comment/Survey Forms
3. Committee Input
4. Municipal and County Web sites
5. Destination and Service Area
6. Local Media Outlets (Newspaper, Cable Channels, County Newsletter,
Kannapolis Newsletter, Midland Newsletter)
7. Civic Organizations
8. E-mail distribution
Additional Information:
• The 100 + mile CTT route includes about six miles of existing trails, and it incorporates
77 miles of trails that were already proposed by local governments in Cabarrus County,
particularly from the Livable Community Blueprint. It is well understood that building a trail
system of this scale is no small undertaking. Segments will likely appear one-by-one, and
adjustments will be made to the proposed routes as circumstances change and more
information becomes available. Similarly, trail development will follow through
• About 77% of the Thread in Cabarrus County would be along streams and river corridors,
13% along existing bike routes and sidewalks, and 4% along road rights-of-way
• Prior to each segment of Greenway Development, adjacent property owner would be
notified of the proposed trail and a meeting would be held to discuss the plan
• Plan is based on'/< mile width and could be adjusted if necessary
2323 Concord Lake Rd (28025) • P.O.
