MEMORANDUM <br />To: Cabarets County Board of Commissioners <br />From: Kassie Goodson Watts/Planner <br />Subject: Reservation of Capacity and Capacity Schedule for Wellington Chase <br />Date: 1 /22/2008 <br />Orleans Homebuildexs, Inc., (1930-B Centex Park Drive, Chazlotte, NC 28217) requests a reservation <br />of capacity fox Wellington Chase Subdivision, which consists of 60 single-family residential lots on <br />+/- 18.23 acres located at the intersection of N.C. Highway 73 and Odell School Road in the City of <br />Kannapolis. This is an additional phase of an existing subdivision. <br />School Capacity Review <br />Wellington Chase subdivision will produce 34 students. The schools impacted by the subdivision are <br />W.R. Odell Elementary School, Harris Middle School and Northwest Cabarrus High School. <br />Cox Mill High School, which is under construction, is projected to open in 2009 in the western part <br />of Cabarets County. This school will relieve Northwest Cabarets and Jay M. Robinson High Schools. <br />The county's capital improvements plan (CIP) includes construction of a new middle school in 2009 <br />in the south central part of the County that would relieve Northwest Cabarrus Middle School and <br />Harris Road Middle School. <br />The CIP also includes a new elementary school in the western part of the County in 2009 to relieve <br />W.R. School capacity is also inadequate for this subdivision at the five <br />year review level (Note that according to Section 15-11, Number 5 of the APFO, future available <br />capacity must be "...greater than or equal to the projected enrollment that will be produced by the <br />proposed development for all school types," not just one or two) <br />~~ <br />
