Cabarrus County Public Transportation Services
Transportation Advisory Board
1/7/2008
To: Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
From: Dan Payne
Chairman Transportation Advisory Board
Commissioners,
The appointed Transportation Advisory Board has been working hand in hand with the Cabarrus
County Transportation Services (COTS) on several key issues dealing with the transportation
needs of our community.
The Advisory Board wants to thank the Commissioners for the support you have shown over the
years to the Transportation Department. You, as well as the Advisory Board, have seen and felt
the major expansion and growth of Cabarrus County and how that growth impacts the services
provided by all County Departments.
Randy Bass, Transportation Director, has kept this board well informed on all matters dealing
with providing services to the citizens of this county. He will be bringing to you a list of
recommendations to help with the growing demand for transportation services. We, as the
advisory board, would ask that you give strong consideration to the ideas and suggestions. One
recommendation we would like to see is the formation of a committee of community and local
government leaders to develop a comprehensive review of the transportation issues facing our
county. This committee could provide invaluable information about all aspects of transportation
needs for the years to come. The Commissioners could then develop a strategic plan to address
those needs.
Cabarrus County has had visionary leaders in past generations who have made our communities
some of the very best in North Carolina. Today's county citizens are discovering what Comad
Reed learned 208 years ago, Cabarrus County is the home of hidden treasures. We know such
visionary leadership is still with us today.
Respectfully,
Dan Payne
Chairman Transportation Advisory Board
Cabarrus County Department of Public Transportation
28 Branchview Drive, Concord, NC 28025 -~"~~~J""`
Post Office Box 707, Concord, NC 28026 (~~~p ~(
Phone: 704-920.2246 Fax: 704-262-7039. www.cabarruscounty.us" ~,b~~Na~~ppoo,a7
rah' NORTH CPROLINA
V I
