their respective organizations. They will have skills and experience in long-range planning, group <br />problem-solving, capital investment strategies, and organization business development. Members <br />will be expected to bring their expertise in these areas to bear on the effective performance of the <br />functions of the Board and the management of the workforce system. <br />The Board is adecision-making, not advisory body. It has direct and final authority regarding the <br />use of almost $7 million dollars in annual funding. It has significant influencing authority <br />regarding more than $ 6 million in additional public funding. As the implementation of the <br />Workforce Investment Act evolves, the power and the scope of this influencing authority will <br />grow. <br />Expectations of a Member <br />Each member is expected to be an active participant in the. Board's proceedirigs. In addition to <br />participation at regular Board meetings, each member is expected to be a member- of at least one <br />of the permanent committees or subcommittees of the Board. These committees will. meet at least <br />once between each regularly scheduled meeting of the Board. Committees meet to review <br />information presented or requested and to prepare recommendations for board approval. Each <br />member is also expected to participate in an open, honest, respectful, and non-serving manner in <br />all deliberations of the Board. Finally, each member is expected to be an agent of change withiri <br />their own organizations/system and community in helping to achieve the goals of the Board. <br />Board Meetine Schedule <br />The Centralina Workforce Development Board meets every month. The Centralina WDB <br />meeting is generally held the second Tuesday of the meeting month at <br />4:30 PM. The meeting place is generally a central location in the region (such as the Cabarrus <br />Regional Chamber in Kannapolis or Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in Concord). WDB <br />members receive a notice and agenda. of the meetings at least 10 days prior to the scheduled <br />meeting date. The meeting place will be posted on the meeting notice.
