CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA ITEM REQUEST <br />Meeting Date 5/19/08 Agenda Item # C - <br />SUBJECT: <br />Recognition of "Franta" on His Retirement from the Cabarrus County Sheriffs Department <br />as the County's First Bomb Detection Service Dog <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />"Franta" is a German Shepherd from the Chek Republic. He is 9 years old and has been <br />in service as a bomb detection dog for Cabarrus County since 2000. As part of the K-9 <br />Unit, "Franta" is trained to do explosive patrol, tracking, article/evidence searchs, <br />area/building searchs and criminal apprehension and protection.
