CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 22, 2008 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Recognitions and Presentations <br />SUBJECT: <br />Cooperative Extension -Recognition of Christine Barrier on her National <br />Epsilon Sigma Phi Visionary Leadership Award <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Epsilon Sigma Phi is the National Cooperative Extension Honorary <br />Fraternity that promotes professional development at the highest level and <br />supports recognition for outstanding accomplishments at the local, state <br />and national levels. Christine Barrier is being recognized at the National <br />Extension Galaxy Conference for her visionary leadership in creating, <br />promoting and supporting a Regional Professional Office Staff Association <br />that will be hosting its first conference in November in Nashville, TN. It <br />was her foresight that created this professional development organization <br />that moves the Cooperative Extension Secretaries Association to the next <br />level. It was Ms. Barrier's dedication to Cooperative Extension and to her <br />fellow secretaries (office assistants) that motivated this need for <br />networking, professional development workshops and personal <br />development sessions to bring together people from around the nation <br />with similar job classifications in an effort to enhance skill development.
